About OneOverZero
without going on for too long
OneOverZero is a consultancy and development agency with specific expertise in information systems. These generally take the form of automation of information management tasks, and techniques which allow distinct information resources to be related to each other. Within a web application framework this information can be presented in a meaningful and useful way to provide system users with a smooth and rich interaction with the information system. Many websites are effectively information systems of one kind or another, with varying degrees of complexity. We are capable, therefore, of deploying most desired web presences.
At the further end of the spectrum, though, information systems utilise strong internal data representations and relationships which can allow an organisation to create associations between the various parts of their digital data. Furthermore, these systems should interact with other similar systems, both internally and externally to the organisation, via some standard protocols to provide vast global networks of information for discovery and retrieval. Our developers have been working in this and related areas for some years, and have a wealth of experience to share.
We are also primarily an open source house, in that we are involved in open source projects outside of OneOverZero. We produce in-house software which is open source, and we recommend our customers use open source solutions wherever possible. Philosophically we are committed to the ideal of open source and freedom of information.
Throughout our time as software developers we have built up a bank of tools to quickly deploy basic frameworks for most application types, which leaves us free to spend time examining your specific requirements without incurring additional consultancy fees. These solutions range from full site solutions to modular components for existing systems. Just contact us and we will be able to help you.
We are also pleased to be able to offer DSpace support, development and customisation to our clients. For more information about this open source digital asset management and preservation platform, take a look at our DSpace page. OneOverZero developers are heavily involved in the development of this system in part to further the goals of open source and open access, and in part through academic interest.
